My first incounter on a computer was when my father brought an old computer home from work. The computer that he brought home was an old Mac, that was black and green. I was so excited to get on it because it had a snake game where you chased an apple.
Another encounter with a computer was rather intimidating. I was in Mrs. Brown's first grade class, and for several days my class mates and I had been bombarded with assignments that were designed to further our understanding of computers. There were a total of four assignments, each explaining the different components of the computer (hard drive, mouse, keyboard, and monitor). The assignments had to be passed with an 80% or better in order to have the privilege to use the computer. It was very stressful because our teacher made this seem like a very big deal. After the assignments came a test. The test consisted of twenty multiple choice questions, all gathered from the previous assignments. I could only miss one question, or else I would have to re-take it. Luckily, I passed! I was then granted full access to the computer. Mrs. Brown guided me through everything- turning it on, logging in, moving the mouse.. Etc. I was so intrigued by the images that displayed in the background; they were so bright and colorful. My teacher then asked if I would like to play a game. The game i played was Math Rabbit. At that point I didn’t even care that it was math, I was just excited that i was the one controlling everything on the computer.
We weren't allowed to get on the internet without our teachers permission, and when we did it was all as a class. The first site I remember using was yahoo. We would always search for pictures of different types of animals.
